day 13: your 5 favorite books and why

I am completely converted to this book. It helps me understand what my priorities are and how I should request things in a relationship and why others don't always want the same thing as I do.
If you haven't found out your love language, you totally should XD

(couldn't find a picture of the mangas together, so i used the movie cover)
Nausicaa is a princess who can talk to animals and throughout the manga, people recognize her as the one prophesied to save the world. She does this in a unique way and it's probably my favorite book of talking to animals (but in this case, it's mostly bugs) and crossing the world during turmoil

I read this book for the first time several years ago while I was at my grandparents house on my dad's side. I was amazed at the strategies demonstrated and cited there and how effective they would've been for me. According to my big brother, it should be read with Playful Parenting, but I haven't read that, so I'll just have to say to ask him.

The secondary main character (it's told in two perspectives) was my very first crush. It is the most adorable story of a girl learning to stand on her own and a guy learning that preconceived notions are horribly awful and nobody benefits from them at all. It's out of print, so I'm really sad about that--still planning on owning it eventually, just have to settle for a secondhand or something, I guess

The Serpent's Shadow is one of my favorites because it has magic in it. The main character doesn't know she even HAS power when she is fleeing to England--it's set back in the day where women aren't supposed to be doctors, but she's from India and has mixed heritage and she does what she sets her mind to do and becomes a private doctor there. She is powerful and gathers some help and with it, she defeats her great enemy. It's an invigorating read with tasteful & cute romance

I also loved the Five Love Languages. It really helps us see the differences in how we receive and communicate love.
